The New Face of Campus Cupboard
Hey Everyone!
I'm Wes Huntington, and welcome to the Crossroads
Blog. It's 2016, and it's time to resume writing the blog every week. Without further ado, let's get into the meat
and potatoes of the blog post for this week, which is about the Campus
Cupboard.
For those of you who do not know what the Campus Cupboard
is, it is our food shelf that is located in the basement of the main Crossroads
building. College students throughout the Mankato area can come once a week to
grab a bag of food. All they have to do is show a valid Student ID card from
any of the three colleges in the greater Mankato area. As of this past
Fall Semester, we are a satellite food bank for Second Harvest Heartland, one
of the biggest food pantries in the state of Minnesota.
So far this semester, the Campus Cupboard has only been open from 11-3
on Tuesdays. Starting this week, I will be opening up and running
the Campus Cupboard on my own on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-3:30pm. I
decided to do it because of three reasons. The first reason is
pretty simple: I am the resident at Crossroads, and it makes sense
to do this part of the ministry since I know people pretty well. The
second reason is that I don't like turn people away from the Campus
Cupboard when it isn't open. The third reason is relatively
simple: I love helping out a food shelf.
If you need food, please stop by on Tuesday, 11-3pm; Wednesday, 1:30-3:30 or Thursday 1:30-3:30. Spread the word to your friends, too. Thanks for reading the blog (keep sharing this too) and here's to a productive 2016 for everyone!
