Campus Ministry Sunday is Almost Here
I love creating these memes to generate a bit of a laugh for you. Anyway, let me introduce myself once again. I'm the Communications Specialist, and I'm Wes Huntington, also one of the residents at Crossroads and I keep the place welcoming for everyone.
Anyway, what is the blog post for this week, you are probably wondering what it's about. This week is about Campus Ministry Sunday, which happens a week from Sunday on the 8th of November. All of our student leaders and board members will be going out to churches who support us in what we do in the ministry, mostly financially but also spiritually as well. I cannot stress it enough, we personally need to thank all of these churches who support us in what we do. The University can only give us so much if we wanted to request the money, but these churches give us so much and it is only fair that we give them something back.
I want you to know that this experience is something that you will remember for a long time. I have been involved with Crossroads since I came to Minnesota State University, Mankato in the Fall of 2014. I went to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in lower part of Mankato (I call the hilltop part 'upper' and downtown and below the hill 'lower' just so you're not confused), with Chris Meiers last year. We did both services; I actually got to meet a lot of new people who do support us. I remember meeting our recently-retired office assistant Rachel Wood that day, and Pastor Jay Dahlvang, Tammy's husband. It was great to see Meiers preach and having him sing that favorite dinner song he had composed. To date, that is the sole thing I miss about him (I told him this last night because he stopped by and enjoyed our final student/board sermons).
This experience will be something that will carry through the rest of your lives. I just wanted you to know that I will be going to Christ the King on that day. These churches are all within a roughly-50-mile radius of Crossroads, and I highly encourage all of you who read this blog to share it, and bring friends with you too. If you want to support me, you are certainly able to attend Christ the King on Sunday the 8th. You will have lunch too, so you don't have to worry about paying for anything (sans the fact you want to do an offering to the church you are visiting).
Remember, Campus Ministry Sunday is on Sunday, November 8th. Please talk with Pastor Tammy if you want to join us or to hear what she has to say about what Campus Ministry Sunday in general so you can gauge your interest in attending.
This is Wes Huntington, signing off until next time.
